Team Sky Named As One Of The Wildcard Tour De France Teams
Now this is something I didn’t know about before but I just saw it on BBC News and I have to say I find it pretty brilliant. The Tour de France allows 22 teams to take part every year with 16 of them being the normal Pro teams but they also invite 6 ‘wildcard’ teams ever year. This is awesome in my opinion and I like the fact it allows other teams every year to have a go in the most prestigious bike race of the year.
I would love to pop across the channel, pick up some car hire in France and follow the tour around, maybe even try and become a mechanic for one of the teams, then I would get expenses paid for me…
The Sky team was only formed last year and is headed up by Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins and they hoped to be in with a chance of winning the Tour de France within 5 years, so it looks as if they are doing quite well so far!
