Porn Caused Indonesia Earthquakes

Now I’m not a religious man and in fact I really despise it sometimes mainly because it gets rolled out as an easy excuse for conflict but sometimes religious people really do make me a bit angry.

The Indonesian Communication and Information Minister, Tifatul Sembiring, has blamed the recent Indonesia earthquake and other natural disasters on loose morals and porn! He says Indonesia made porno that is available in local markets and TV programmes that are available have caused the disasters and they will continue unless people change their ways.

Now I can understand some people not liking porn and being outraged at the apparent lack of morals people have but to blame it for the horrific catastrophes of the Indonesian earthquake, which killed more than 1000 people, just seems in extremely poor taste. It isn’t far off the old ‘well she got raped because she deserved it wearing a short skirt like that’ line and that to me is just unacceptable!

iPhone On Multiple Networks – Is It Actually Cheaper?

iphone 499x907 iPhone On Multiple Networks Is It Actually Cheaper?

So the iPhone has been out now on Orange for quite a while and is coming to the Tesco network (before Christmas according to BBC) and will be on Vodaphone sometime in 2010. Now when I got my iPhone I didn’t have the choice of what network so I had no choice but to go with O2, pretty much as soon as I did they announced it would be coming to Orange. Oh no! I thought, all the prices are going to drop now and I am going to lose out on the savings big time!

Well now the dust has settled from the Orange iPhone launch and I have to tell you, I’m a happy bunny! Lets just compare the price of my exact phone.

O2

  • £35 a month
  • 24 month contract
  • 600 minutes
  • 500 texts
  • Unlimited internet
  • Cost of phone = £175

Orange

  • £35 a month
  • 24 month contract
  • 600 minutes
  • 500 texts
  • cost of phone = £175

Now I don’t know about you but to me that looks exactly the same?! It is still expensive and the whole competition will drive down prices for consumers part seems to have just not happened.

The contracts all down the line are the same on either network. For pay as you go phones it is similar with both networks letting you buy the 32 gb £gs for £540 however the pay as you go deals are different this time so it might be worth checking them out if you don’t like the idea of contracts. Although I’m not to sure what mobile broadband is like to use if you have a limit…

If you currently have a pay as you go phone and you have had it for 12 months O2 will unlock your phone for £15 and pay monthly users can be unlocked at any time for free but you still have to honour the minimum term on your contract.

Anyway I hope that helps clear up the fact that opening up the iPhone to different networks hasn’t actually made any difference. Lets hope Vodaphone or Tesco start having unlimted contracts for a tenner…
