Amazon Disc+ On Demand

disc plus on demand from amazon

Amazon have just announced a new service for movie lovers, the Disc+ On Demand service. When you buy a DVD or Blu-ray you can instantly watch them using a streaming service, so you don’t have to wait for the physical item to arrive in the post before you can watch it.

I think this is a brilliant idea and although only available for a small selection of films and only in the US at the moment, I can see this becoming a very popular service and something that will be rolled out to most countries quite soon. Obviously if you wanted to watch the streams on a TV instead of a small laptop or computer screen you would need some way of connecting your computer to the TV, you can connect using monitor out and then headphone out into speakers but this is bulky and not ideal because you have to fiddle around with screen resolutions etc. So the ideal thing to use is something like the Apple TV or the Boxee, which is coming soon or hopefully Amazon would make it possible to stream the DVDs through your Xbox 360 or PS3 using their internet connections.

My only thought is, if  I buy a film, watch it and then decide its rubbish can I cancel the order and get some of my money back?

Awesome Google Chrome Advert

Yes I know I’m talking about adverts again but screw it, this is awesome!

RATM For Number One?

n2228594104 3591 RATM For Number One?

I guess because it is everywhere and I like the idea, I should probably talk about the whole X Factor V Rage Against The Machine thing….

So basically like last year when people were trying to get Jeff Buckleys version Of Hallelujah to beat the awful  X Factor version, people are again trying to stop X Factor from getting the Xmas number 1 but this time by trying to get as many people as possible to buy Rage Against The Machines song ‘Killing In The Name’. At the time of writing this the group has 552,353 members and if only 1/5 of those people actually buy the record then it might actually happen!

It would be amazing if it did happen and I love the fact that even Simon Cowell seems to be getting worried!

So anyway buy the single (after the 13th of december though!) and join the group here
