Haiti Earthquake – 13 Days On
13 days after the Haiti earthquake and the news is still jammed full of graphic images of trapped people and updates of horrifyingly large death tolls. The latest figures say as many as 200,000 people have been killed and 2 million people are now homeless but in an amazing show of human decency the figures for money raised and help given are also huge, with British donations alone hitting £46m today. Amazingly a seven year old boy raised £100k by himself after cycling 5 miles around London’s South Park on Sunday. He originally hoped to raise £500 but after he posted his sponsorship form online with the help of his parents the donations suddenly came rolling in in an amazing show of support.
However it is still not too late to give donations and money and help are still greatly needed in this awful disaster. But like I said in my original post (The Haiti Earthquake – Already Jumped On By Scammers) please do be wary of scam sites and fake charity’s and only give to recognised charity organisations.
