Gift Of Love

the gift of love heart balloons and bears

I just got added on Twitter by a company called lovegift. On their bio it says “An everlasting gift of love. Check into the above url.” Now you can be pretty sure I am never going to click the link especially since all the tweets that have spouted from the person/companies mouth are sickly love messages straight from poundlound valentines cards. A few examples:

Sometimes, when one person is missing, the whole world seems depopulated.”

“It is always in the midst, in the epicenter, of your troubles that you find serenity.”

Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow.”

Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, ‘Grow, grow.’ ”

Excuse me while I just go and violently remove all of my lunch from my stomach. It did get me thinking though is the gift of love a valid gift? It could possibly work sometimes if you were really good about it. You say I love you to a girl and you can be sure they will probably forget you didn’t actually get them anything proper. I’m not sure how well it would work for the office Christmas party though.

‘I couldn’t afford a Christmas hamper for everyone this year but I would just like to say….I love you all’.

I would think most places that would be considered a pretty bad gift.

Talking of Christmas party’s it’s almost Christmas now isn’t it? only like 2 and a half months and really, that’s nothing! Soon be time to get the tinsel out and then realise it is amazingly itchy so putting it away again after half an hour. But in all seriousness, Christmas means party time! Endless sessions alone on the PS3 then…

I will be in a new house by then so I imagine all my presents will be furniture because after 3 years of living in furnished student digs it has left me with absolutely no belongings. Moving out will be the cheapest part, furnishing the place after will be the bit that kills my bank account. Fridges, washing machines and sofas all cost a bomb and as for the rest of the furniture needed I’ll probably just do without for as long as possible. I mean, come on, do you really need a table or wardrobe? I’ll have to just make do because my savings account has exactly £0, the guy I live with though can make stuff out of wood so hopefully he will just make anything we need and it will be good investments because home made furniture goes for loads these days if we ever come to sell! Winner!

Anyway back to the add on Twitter, I need more real friends not companies spouting lame quotes! You can add the GenerallySpeaking twitter to get all the latest updates on the blog or you can just not do that and pretend your better than me because you didn’t buy into the whole twitter thing.
