22 adult sturgeon fish were flown on one of Etihad’s new A330-200 freighter aircraft, which utilises state of the art temperature control technology to make sure the endangered species was transported safely. They will be put in a specially built state of the art fish farm that is over 60,000 sq meters and has been specially commissioned for rearing sturgeon and producing caviar in the UAE.

Each Sturgeon was transported in its own special container that was designed to be completely temperature controlled and always sat between 10 and 15 degrees. The Senior Vice President of Cargo, Roy Kinnear, said “Etihad is proud of its reputation for carrying precious cargo and this now includes sturgeon fish which are on the list of global endangered species.”

As well as special cargo flights Etihad also flies from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt with normal passenger flights as well as lots of other journeys and destinations.
