Dining Out On Flowers?

Do you sometimes walk past some nice Dandelions or a bunch of Roses and just think, wow they look tasty, I’m gonna eat them nom nom nom nom?

No?

Me neither but apparently we are fools for not seeing flowers as tasty cooking treats. The Romans and ancient Greeks were very partial to cooking with roses, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine still uses it and there is even mention of it in the Old Testament.

An article in the Metro is perhaps suggesting that a lot more chefs should use the taste of flowers to good effect and says that chef Shane Osborn, who cooks at a two Michelin starred restaurant in London called Pied à Teere, has been cultivating his own little herb and flower garden on the top of his restaurant!

Now this all sounds a bit mad to me to start with but then I think about it a bit more and really what is any different from eating a flower to eating some herbs or a bit of parsley? Now I am looking out of my window at the flowerbeds below and all I can think of is trying to eat them all. Delicious food also for the most part looks really nice and what looks nicer than flowers?

So I think the next time I get my shopping I’m going to get some flower delivery as well and look up some recipes because this sounds just weird enough that it should be (and taste) utterly fantastic!
