Apparently Its Valentines Day Soon
Being a die-hard singleton I hate this day, everybody in a relationship turns into an insufferable bore and everyone who wants to be in a relationship becomes a needy emotional wreck. Girls cry when they get valentines flowers and they cry when they don’t get valentines flowers! Men are either annoyingly soppy and romantic or in a mood all day because of the cost that the inevitable meal, flowers and gifts combo will be.
Having a day that you have to show your love for someone is like saying don’t worry about the rest of the year you don’t need to love me or be nice and romantic then. If somebody isn’t romantic throughout the year then they probably aren’t the romance type and will only resent having to do it on that day! And surely being ‘romantic’ on a day when you have to be romantic isn’t really that romantic…
It wouldn’t annoy me so much if it was just a one day thing but these days, much like Christmas, it seems to spread over the whole month beforehand and takes over all shops like a horrible infectious disease.
So this year I’m going to give up and buy into the whole Valentines deal, presents, flowers, eating out, drinking, and pure love. Except it will all be for me, I will buy myself the best ever presents and then laugh at husbands and boyfriends trying to decide what their partner really wants. I will eat something really nice and then get blind drunk on posh champagne.
The upside is that if I go out, talking to the single women will be easier than pulling a bridesmaid at a wedding.
