Abu Dhabi: “Have $10bn” Dubai: “Thanks!”
After much talk of Dubai not getting any help from its neighbour in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, it seems that they now have the help they need. Abu Dhabi have come to the rescue of the debt ridden Dubai to the tune of $10bn (£6.13bn). That is some bailout!
It comes as a bit of a surprise because the two wealthy places are known for there ruthlessness when it comes to poor or jobless people. A lot of people have to leave just because they do not take kindly to people who have lost their jobs…
Abu Dhabi must be feeling flush after the success of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this year so felt like a few billion would be fine. I wonder if flights to Dubai are super cheap at the moment compared to Abu Dhabi, if it is I could see a lot of clever holidayers flying to Dubai and then getting car rental or something similar and just driving the short distance to Abu Dhabi.
It is a sad thing overall because if the most decadent and rich place in the world needs bailing out then you know the state of the world is in trouble!
