A Charity Book Donation Worth £37,000!
In a pretty amazing and quite uplifting story recently an Oxfam charity store in Teignmouth received a few special book donations by an anonymous ‘well dressed, retired gentleman’ who gave the store around seven books including one book called ‘A Trip To The Highlands Of Viti Levu’ which the gentleman said the shop will find most interesting with a knowing smile.
It turns out the book is a collection of photographs depicting a journey made by two scientists who tried to find a long lost brother in Fiji in 1881. The shop workers decided to do a bit of research and saw that the book was indeed a bit special so decided to take it to Bonhams to get it valued and they said it might be worth between £2,000 and £3,000.
Amazing right? Well they put it up for auction and the super rare book actually went for an amazing £37,200! How’s that for a charity gift!
Oh and I would include a picture but it would seem the front cover doesn’t seem to exist anywhere!! Can anyone find a picture?
