24 Hours Of Air Travel

How many planes do you think are flying over the world at any 24 hour period? Well it would seem by looking at this video where every yellow dot represents a plane in the sky, there are a lot of big metal birds above us in a 24 hr period.

Of course some of these journeys are the same plane doing small journeys several times in a day but did you know that some of the longest commercial flights can be up to 18 hours and 50 mins long, completely non stop! That journey is from Newark to Singapore and covers an impressive 9,535 miles if you fancy going on a very long flight…

You can see some of the long flights on the video if you check out flights from Dubai, Melbourne/Sydney, Hong Kong and west coast America, they all seem to be the flight routes that are long where as European and Internal American flights are much shorter and repeated several times throughout the day as you can see by the big mass of yellow dots over these areas.
