£1,500 Car Hire Charge Because Of Ash
The planes are back in the sky and the volcanic ash is no longer deemed a threat to the engines but the misery it has caused for the many stranded abroad or missing their holidays is still ongoing. One man from Coventry who was stuck in the Algarve on a family holiday used the Portuguese hire car he had to simply drive home instead of waiting for flights.
Once back in the UK however he took his car to a Birmingham airport car hire company and he was plonked with a £1,500 charge, which the company says is the ‘standard’ fee for one way journeys of that distance to return the car to the original car hire company in the Algarve. Gutted.
Well it probably seemed like a good idea at the time…
